Postcard Buyers Guide
Post cards are an easy and effective way of advertising your product of service. They can
be used to introduce your company to potential customers, sent out as a follow-up to a
media kit or sales meeting, or used as a reminder for a sale or product update. Try
experimenting with sizes and designs. You may wish to send out a larger post card as
your initial contact, but send out a smaller post card as the follow-up. Remember that
when your post card is delivered to your customers, it is going to come address side up. When designing postcards, always be sure to take into account, how they will be addressed and mailed, unless you are labeling each postcard, you probably do not want any coating applied to the back of the card. Also, it is a good idea to check with your mailing house, or local post office to get current rates for mailing your postcards. The size of your postcard, can greatly effect the cost of mailing; for instance, the best postal rate is for a 4.25 x 6" postcard. The next step, is for postcards between 4.25x6" all the way up to 6x11", this size is called "letter rate". Anything bigger than 6x11" is called a flat. Many mailing houses have ways to reduce postage costs, by sorting the list a certain way, or creative mailing techniques, such as a "detached label" mailing, so it is always a good idea to work closely with a good mailing house for large mailing jobs. Try to put something eye catching on the backside, even if it is only a postage stamp. Finally, direct mail campaigns can be very successful, but may take up to 6 months to reach its full effect. Potential customers may have a need for your product or service, just not presently. Try to make the design something that they will want to hold onto sothat they have it when they are ready to order.

Recycled paper post cards are probably the most important recycled product you can
have. Eco-friendly printing not only means that the product is made from recycled paper,
but it is also recyclable. Many coatings and stocks cannot be recycled. Recycled paper
post cards also show potential customers that you are dedicated to being a sustainable
business. People are becoming more and more concerned with the environment, and ecofriendly
post cards show your customers that you are too. Finally, encourage your customers to put your post cards in their recycling bins after they are done with them.
